Now this was more like it! I strolled leisurely past high end clothing stores, all the brands entirely familiar, pausing to peer in the window of a store I was rather certain carried my own designs. Oh, how fabulous! I clapped my hands together in delight., spying the 'VALENTINE' scrawled on the tag. I'd reached even Japan! Admittedly, it was but one store, but it surely wouldn't take long before I was entirely worldwide! I turned from the window, twirling my parasol happily as I continued down the well kept street, enjoying the upper class neighbourhood.
Oh, but of course! How silly of me, I was on the prowl for duelists. Surrounded by such stores and amenities, it felt like one of my all too familiar shopping trips. How terribly lax of me, to lose sight of the competition so quickly! I paused outside a cosy, trendy looking cafe, struggling with my desire to get out of the cold and enjoy a glass of wine, and my decision to begin dueling immediately. Oh, there was no real rush, now was there? As long as I dueled enough, there was no need to charge ahead... Wine it was!
"Oh, divine!" I cooed, as the warmth and the scent of the cafe washed over me. Coffee and cinnamon and fresh pastries, oh, it was heavenly. I nestled myself in a table by the window, so I could stare at passersby, challenging them to a duel with merely my beautifully made up eyes. "A glass of the house white please, darling, and perhaps one of those charming little cream puffs." I smiled graciously at the waiter, before turning back to the window. Would everyone else have started their first duels? I had to admit, I worried ever so slightly about falling behind, but I was confident in my abilities. Or at least, not overly concerned about them.
If I was to duel, I would duel, and until then, I would pass the time in luxury!

A light jingle of bells rung throughout the quaint little diner as a young male, who appeared to be in his teens, stepped through the door. Peculiarly, he would be the second person with white hair to enter the restaurant; though his hair seemed more of an ashen gray than white. He glanced around momentarily with his amber eyes before letting out a sigh of disappointed. It seemed as if he had been pressured into coming into the restaurant and the person he was looking for seemed to be missing. Slouching over slightly, the boy would scratch the back of his head while fiddling around in his left pocket. A few seconds passed and he whipped out a smartphone from his pocket, soon going through it as well.
Suddenly, a repeat of jingles could be heard and the boy would let out a small yelp, fumbling forward as his phone plummeted from his hand and onto the cold floor. He had accidentally been pushed by someone entering the restaurant. Startled by the thought of breaking his phone, the buy frantically dived forward to pick up his phone. Ignored by his attackers, the boy paid little attention and instead focused on his accessory, patting it for dirt and blowing on it.
”… Phew. Doesn’t look like there’s anything wrong with it.” sighed the boy in relief. He quickly put his phone away and stood up once more, glancing around the room with his amber eyes again. ”Man, they told me they’d be waiting here for me. I already missed the opening ceremony…”
Lady luck did not seem very appreciative towards the boy today. Silently, he slunk off into a nearby booth, laying his head on top of the table. ”I was looking forward to seeing the Dark Magician Girl too.” he mumbled into his arms. Shaking his head, he lifted himself high only to have his gaze caught by a strange looking woman. Her posture made her seem elegant by nature; however, what truly set her apart was her odd attire. Tilting his head slightly, the ashen boy tilted his head slightly. ”A Gothic Lolita? … She’s kind of cute like that.” His cheeks seemed to fluster a light pink as he openly admired the girl as most males would.
Suddenly, he shook his heads frantically yet again. He slapped his hands against his cheeks as he nodded. ”Filter out the bad thoughts, Addison, filter them out.” His efforts in avoiding any sort of wrongful thoughts worked against him, as he continued to watch the girl as if his eyes were magnetized towards her. Any strange thoughts, however, no longer lingered in his head as he began to wonder if the girl was a duelist. | ◀ MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS |

I sipped my wine, taking small nibbles of the delicious pastry between drinks. Though I had intended not to linger long, and to actively seek out duelists, I was quite content not to move. Returning to the cold did not sound appealing, and though I knew I was currently part of a tournament, my disposition had never been one prone to action. My attention was caught briefly then, by a man - no, a boy - causing a minor scene in the cafe. I cared not for the details, merely raising an eyebrow in disapproval as he made his way into a booth and settled his head on the table. He looked even younger than Saleen, most likely a student. Hmph, didn't he know this was an up market place? Perhaps he ought to return to the playground, or game shop, or wherever children like him hung out. Why, at his age I was attending the opera, and designing clothes for performers!
I returned my gaze to the window, raising my glass to my lips. I supposed it wouldn't do to underestimate younger people though, there were many who were incredibly proficient at dueling, and I would likely go up against a great number during this tournament. In fact... I turned to look at him once more, and caught him looking back. "Aha! Then you shall be my first!" I announced, rising dramatically to my feet, pointing across the cafe at him with the tip of my closed parasol. It was simply perfect! Had I not been dwelling on the issue of finding a duelist? He was so out of place here, it was nothing short of providence that brought him to me! The majority of the customers looking at me with concerned eyes, I merely drained my glass of wine, before setting it down and tottering over to him.
"You're a duelist, non? Then you accept my challenge, of course?" I had always been very presumptuous, or so my tutors told me. But one did not get what one wanted in life without making a few demands! "Come along darling, let us put on a beautiful performance!" With those last, haughty parting words, I made for the door, opening my parasol with a flourish and stepping outside.
I smiled at the brisk cold, stepping delicately into the street and slipping a hand into my dress to grasp my dueling deck. Oh, it was time for my lovely ladies to bloom!
Not that I stopped to consider that my challenge would be turned down, or worse, ignored. Why, one simply didn't treat Coco Valentine like that!

Their eyes locked and the ashen boy’s question would soon be answered by the girl in the frilly yet formal dress he had been staring at. "Aha! Then you shall be my first!" she suddenly cried out. These words echoed throughout the restaurant. Bewildered by the sudden twist that had been wrought upon him the teenager tilted his head sideways, pointing at himself in response to the strangely fashioned girl who in turn pointed at him. A challenge had been issued to him and startled at this thought, the boy jumped to his feet.
Abruptly struck by stage fright of sorts the boy spoke only to fumble in speaking his sentences. ”Eh?! M-me? All I did was stare at you! Er- T-that came out wrong, I mean, I was looking at your weir- I mean, admiring how you looked!” He frantically reached out to his backpack and began shifting through it. ”… Deck, Duel Disk, I know I packed those!” Strangely, he dug around his backpack for a good minute before taking out his Duel Disk: his deck already in the deck slot. He stepped to the side to stand ready by the booth and slid the dueling accessory onto his arm.
He let out a small sigh then looked back to the girl with a smirk on his face. His amber eyes suddenly brimmed with confidence as he pointed back at her. ”Alright then. I’ll accept your challenge. Fair warning though, I’m pretty strong!” Just as he went to activate the contraption on his arm though sudden coughing would interrupt his actions. The boy turned in the direction of the coughing only to stare down at the owner who was point out at the door. The teenager’s cheeks flushed red once more as he nodded. ”O-Outside then!”
He quickly left the restaurant and out to the streets, understanding that dueling was not something to be done in doors. He stood outside, waiting for the girl. When she stepped out, he’d extend his arm out as if inviting her into his game. ”A-Ahem. Whenever you’re ready. You can start off, I don’t mind going second; after all, ladies first.” | ◀ MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS |

Perhaps I'd misjudged him as merely another teenager, he was proving himself surprisingly endearing. I couldn't help a small chortle at him stumbling over his words. He darted out of the door, and as I left, his manners were not lost on me. "My, such a gentleman!" I cooed, smiling sweetly at him as I passed into the street. Parasol now open on my shoulder, with a flurry of pink fabric I attached my duel disk, now accentuated to match my outfit. We stood in the middle of the street, holographic snow falling gently around us, and a few patrons of the cafe and nearby shoppers had paused to watch one of the first duels of Domino City's tournament. It wouldn't do to let them down, the people demanded a spectacle!
"Oh how sweet. Very well, allow me to plant the seeds of your defeat!" I proclaimed, raising my arm dramatically. My talent for theatrics perhaps outweighed even my talent for dueling itself. But it wouldn't do to underestimate this boy, as charming as he seemed. He had warned me of such in the cafe, and I was eager to see his skill for myself. With our duel disks on, standing opposite each other, the holographic technology seemed to spring to life, and our stage was set. "Now darling, duel!" And we began.
I drew my starting hand, and found myself at something of a loss. As much as I adored my princesses, their presence in my hand was typically unhelpful, and as I ended my turn, my winning smile had wilted slightly. As he called up a few familiar faces, the Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl, to be precise, and attacked my empty field, I tried to stifle the nerves. His direct attacks made me cringe, a frown now furrowing my perfectly made up face. "Oooh, how could you!" I called across the field, glaring at the two magicians who had decimated my life points.
Still, my luck scarcely changed, only a few face downs and Dandylion tokens saving me from further damage. Things were not looking too fabulous! A niggling thought was taking up residence in my mind, however, as I remained in the game. Was he drawing equally unhelpful cards, or was he holding back...? His magicians were a constant presence, but they seemed to refrain from dealing damage. I wasn't sure if I was defending adequately with my meager resources, or if the boy was holding back intentionally... but for what?
"This is far from over dear!"

Though the young male seemed like nervous train wreck earlier, he continued to swell with confidence. A fire had been lit in his eyes and it could easily be seen in the way he was grinning. The device blipped twice as numbers popped up on the screen: a sign that the match had undergone and commenced itself. Drawing his starting hand, he looked down to his cards then back to the girl across from him. Her face contorted with disappointment so he assumed that she had a difficult start. The boy could understand though since at the time, he would be on the same boat as her. Suddenly, without making any sort of move she ended her turn.
Hand: (5) Mystical Space Typhoon, Dark Magician, Timegazer Magician, Dark Magician Girl, Breakthrough Skill
”… Was your hand really that bad?” he asked, scratching his head. The boy let out a small sigh, a bit disappointed in what had happened. He had hoped to catch a glimpse of the girl’s deck. ”Well, I guess I’ll be the one starting then. I draw for my turn!” He swiped the top card from his deck then grinned brightly at the prospect of what he drew. Pumping his right fist the boy spread it to the side. ”Alright! It looks like Lady Luck hasn’t abandoned me just yet! Since you have your eyes locked on me, I’ll show off a little magic trick.” Reaching out to his hand, the boy would reveal two cards before suddenly placing them on two opposite sides of his duel disk.
”I set the Pendulum Scale using my scale one Stargazer Magician and my scale eight Timegazer Magician! Doing so will allow me to summon any amount of monsters whose levels are between two to seven at the same time!” His grin grew wider as he reached out to the sky, exaggerating his actions. ”Come forth, the stars of my show! I PENDULUM SUMMON DARK MAGICIAN AND DARK MAGICIAN GIRL FROM MY HAND!”
Suddenly two monsters appeared onto the field, both corresponding well with one another. The young male would take advantage of the girl’s defenseless field and deal a hefty amount of damage to her life points, setting two cards before ending his turn. The girl, however, appeared undeterred by his powerful monsters and made her play, utilizing her monster effects to develop a solid defense. In a moment’s notice, she’d suddenly have three monsters on the field, one of which was an XYZ monster. Curious of just what kind of strategy she’d be using, he’d attack her other monsters, leaving her XYZ monster on the field for her to use once more.
Her strategy became more apparent though when she’d use the effect to special summon Lonefire Blossom from her graveyard. Using its effect, she’d special summon her plants, continuing her combo to bring out a monster with stronger than his Dark Magician. The boy wagged his finger though. ”Sorry, but summoning your Talaya has triggered my trap! I activate Dark Renewal! By sending one monster on your side of the field and one spellcaster from mine, I can freely special summon any one spellcaster from my deck. I send Dark Magician Girl to the grave to special summon Gagaga Magician from my deck in defense position!”
The boy had hoped to used his newly summon monster to create a more extensive play; however, this proved to be a mistake as the girl would use her other monster to destroy it in battle. Suddenly things were not going well for him as on his next turn the only move he’d be able to make would be to attack one of her monsters. | ◀ MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS |

It became apparent when my dear Meliae of the Trees was left on the field, my opponent choosing to attack tokens in its place, that he was in no hurry to finish me off. As prideful as I was, such a show of mercy was intolerable, and I was determined to make him regret it! Though my first princess emerged, rising beautifully from amidst cherry blossoms, he was prepared, and disposed of her with a strange, magician oriented trap, calling up another on his field at the same time. However he was soon left with just one card, his Dark Magician, while I had drawn into a few resources of my own. "Mmm, I fear you may have underestimated me, darling!" I called, as Meliae worked her magic to call upon, yet again, my Lonefire Blossom.
"Plants grow very quickly, you see, and if you don't destroy the root..." Lonefire Blossom was quickly replaced by Gigaplant, tangled vines spilling from the street. "They will bloom once more!" And Gigaplant summoned a brand new Talaya, Princess of Cherry Blossoms, flooding the snowy street with pink petals. Finally, my garden was taking shape! They took some work, as well as sunshine and water, but once my flowers blossomed, they were difficult to dispose of. "Now go, my darlings!" And I launched a counterattack, taking out that foul Dark Magician, alongside a portion of his life points.
My turn over, my smile had returned, and I allowed myself a small laugh. This match was very much in my favour, now! But I would not forget this, his small show of lenience. Had he thought me so weak mercy was required? Had he stayed his hand for another reason? Whatever the case, I could not rest easy knowing some child had looked down on me! Didn't he know who I was? Such disrespect could not go unanswered!

Curiosity got the better of the young lad today as the girl would launch a massive counterattack against him on her next turn. She’d begin her play with a single pivotal card that would grant her a wide variety of moves; though she’d use it to special summon another Meliae of Trees. While he initially wasn’t taken aback by the girl’s strategy things began to change when she continued to combo together one monster effect after the other until she finally filled her field with powerful monsters. Suddenly Addison could feel the sweat form from his neck as she now had a powerful monster fully capable of defeating his Magician. Entering battle, the girl would strike down his trusted companion and move onwards to his life points. Though the monsters were merely holographic images, each attack seemed to strike against him violently, knocking him back a bit.
With his life down to 3900, the ashen gray haired boy looked down to his Duel Disk. The girl had essentially won the game from there. Rather than forfeiting though, he’d set two cards face down: one in his monster zone, the other in his spell trap zone. Ending his turn, the boy shut his eyes together as the girl moved onwards to end the duel with her attacks. As his life reached 0, the game would suddenly end, making all of the monsters disperse into little particles. Casually, he looked up to the sky and let out a relaxed sigh. He looked back to the girl who by then had a smug smile on her face. He wasn’t disappointed by his loss though. Instead he was actually quite happy that he could see a unique deck that fit her motif.
”Ah. I lost.” he said with a light chuckle. He approached the girl and extended his hand out to shake her hand. ”It was a fun duel! Thanks! Your deck is pretty interesting, you know. After seeing how you dressed, I just couldn’t help but see what kind of cards you’d use. You really do seem like a princess.” Though he didn’t quite make it obvious in the duel, the carefree boy simply wanted to learn more about the girl, going so far as to risk a loss in the tournament. Pulling away from the girl, he’d smack the bottom of his right fist against his left palm as a thought suddenly sprang into his head. Letting out a nervous chuckle, he’d look back to the girl.
”Ahaha… You know, I just realized I never introduced myself! That was pretty rude of me… I’m Addison Gray! It’s a pleasure meeting you.” Just as she had assumed, the boy didn’t know who she was. | ◀ MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS |

"Oh ho ho!" I laughed, covering one hand with my mouth as my monsters faded away, and the duel ended. Despite my misgivings about his play, I had enjoyed myself, and regardless of the circumstances, I had begun my tournament with a win. He crossed the distance, holding out his hand for a handshake. He seemed in rather good spirits, given his loss, and I placed my hand lightly in his. I was entirely prepared to be my usual, haughty self, but at his last comment, a light blush crossed my face. "A princess?" I said quietly, before my innate narcissism raised its head. "But of course! How perceptive of you!" I laughed again, I had certainly misjudged this boy.
Addison Gray, I corrected myself, as he gave his name. Where were my manners, I should have at least told him my name before such an abrupt challenge! "Coco Valentine, charmed." I replied, dipping my head slightly. It was, I thought as he said it, quite a pleasure. "Trendsetter, beauty queen and fashionista extraordinaire!" I added, twirling my parasol for effect. But the light atmosphere wouldn't last long, as my eyes narrowed and I leaned in towards the boy.
"However... You could have prevented this. I'm a talented duelist, good enough to see that you spared my key monster, allowing me to perform my combos. Now why on earth would somebody do such a thing?" I said airily, turning away from him and placing a finger on my chin in mock thoughtfulness. "We are, after all, participating in quite the prestigious tournament... Not exactly the place for fun and games, non? I raised my hands in feigned despair, "C'est très mauvais!" Following my exclamation, I turned back to face him, my expression sweet.
"Very well. We shall simply have to duel again. I hope you'll look forward to it, darling."
