The setting! don't ignore it!

This site is set in 2014 in the fictional Japanese city of Domino. The city is a relatively new city, having been built up over the past decade by various technology firms. Originally, the area was filled with various moderate sized towns. Now, all the towns have been united into a large ocean side city. Domino City boasts the most advanced technology in the world, gaining the nickname, the Digital Palace. The technology here rivals that of Silicon Valley, and recently, a grand breakthrough has marked Domino as the global lead in digital tech.

With the advent of holographic technology, the entire city has started setting up projectors of the globally popular game, Duel Monsters. In order to attract more tourism to the city, Domino has announced a New Year’s tournament. They have welcome duelists from all around world, luring them in with promises of wealth and fame should they place in even the top fifty. Now, over ten thousand duelists from across the planet are all in the same city, aiming for the gold.

Technology Levels
This site is playing with cutting edge technology. Things like glass technology are a thing here. [A video showing glass technology can be found HERE] Don’t go too crazy though. We still don’t have flying cars. Technology has only been given an edge on this site. 

There is a large network of hologram projectors placed throughout the city that are all connected to each other. This system is known as the Hologram Caster. Players who have access to this can create holograms anywhere in the city.

Duel Monsters
Duel Monsters has been gaining world renown for the past two decades. It has become firmly implanted in pop culture and the heart of children throughout the world. There is a very serious professional circuit as well. Duel Monsters is a cultural phenomenon that doesn’t seem to be losing steam after twenty years.

Schools of Dueling
The Schools of Dueling, as in the different types of dueling like Synchro and fushion summoning, all still exist. In this AU they were all developed by different branches of the Industrial Illusions company to spice up the game and bring in more variety. Basically, anything that goes in the card game Yugioh in real life, goes here.

Villains
For the first month or so, our "villain" group is going to be locked. They will be announced at a later date. Feel free to make a chaotic aligned character if you so wish.

Exploration!
Here on Domino City Lights, we encourage members to explore the city through new threads and roleplay. The more you explore the more of the plot you unlock, and the more you have a chance to unlock events and NPCs!
